Maybe – you might be surprised. Quick, agile turning does need some controlled trunk movement. But even with limited stability, many users feel a big difference going straight on uneven ground (hello, tilted sidewalks). We can also tune the steering settings to find what feels stable. Best is to try it and see what’s possible.
Yes – any time. Our doors are open and so are our ears. We’re in Zurich, Switzerland – and we’d rather you feel it than read about it. Or later in 2026 you can experience it at selected clinics and partner shops. We’ll also be on the road, presenting Origin at trade fairs throughout 2026 and 2027.
Pre-orders will open in autumn 2026 and the official launch is planned for Swiss Abilities in March 2027. Until then, we keep building. Testing. Improving. For now, the best way in is still to test it. Feel it. Try it in real conditions. See what it changes.
No – Versive Origin is a rigid-frame wheelchair, so it doesn’t fold. Getting it into a car is still easy: seat and backrest come off with a quick release (just like the wheels).
Origin starts at around 12 kg, depending on size/geometry and wheel and cushion choice. Thanks to the quick-release system, you can remove the seat and backrest (and wheels) and get down to a transfer weight of around 6 kg.
Clinicians/Technicians
In most cases, yes. The Origin frame uses standard wheels (12.7 mm axle) and a 30 mm round aluminium tube for the frame. It is therefore compatible with most tractor and handbike devices. One known exception is the FreeWheel. If you share your model, we can confirm fit.
No electronics, no battery. Origin is a manual, purely mechanical wheelchair.
It will be – we have the Swiss IV/SUVA on our side and we do what we can to make bureaucratic mills run faster. We’ll start with IV/SUVA in Switzerland and selected health insurers in Germany. If you tell us your country and insurer, we can share what the path typically looks like and where things stand right now. We can also support with templates for custom requests.
We’re wondering too! 🙂
Perhaps because therapists don’t believe that wheelchair users have sufficient trunk control, or because wheelchairs are only tested in confined, clinical indoor spaces or even because wheelchairs have historically been developed as devices for caregivers and not to enable mobility for users.
